THREE people were injured in a crash near Kington, with one being taken to hospital.

The crash, which took place at around 11.30am on Sunday August 13, involved two vehicles on the A44 in Lyonshall near the Herefordshire town of Kington. 

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We arrived to the scene where crews found two cars had been involved and there were three patients requiring assessment. A female passenger of the first car was treated by ambulance staff for minor injuries and taken to Hereford County Hospital for further treatment. The driver and passenger of the same car were also treated by medics for minor injuries but were given self-care advice and discharged."

West Mercia Police and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were also called to the scene.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "One Kington Fire Station crew was called out to make two vehicles, which were both left on all four wheels, safe. 

"They left the incident with the police and highways agency at 1.34pm."

The incident happened near Penrhos Court and the Cattle Shed restaurant, with the owner, Laura Lane, commenting: "This road is dangerous and has had far too many accidents."

The A44 was the road with the highest number of fatal crashes in Herefordshire according to data from 2021. 

A coroner raised several safety concerns about a stretch of the A44 on the other side of Kington, regarding foliage, signage and speed of traffic, after a couple and their dog were killed by a motorbike while crossing the road.
