A POPULAR Herefordshire pub is still closed - but its brewery is hopeful that it will reopen 'as soon as possible'.

The Full Pitcher in Ledbury has been shut while its brewery company, Stonegate, looked for a new landlord.

On July 25, Shaun Bartley announced on the Voice of Ledbury Facebook page that him and his partner, Sophie Knight, were taking it on.

Mr Bartley said: "Our job is to bring life back to this beautiful building and serve your community and its visitors with a vibrant but non pretentious menu along with a great selection of ales larger and of course Westons Cider.

"We will be serving an all day breakfast with takeaway option along with freshly ground coffee to go.

"Sophie and I really believe in pubs being pubs and offering something for everyone, ultimately it's your pub so tell us what you want. Is it music, sports or maybe games?

"We have a large outdoor area to play with so lets use it. We want to hear any and all ideas you may have."

Mr Bartley said that the couple were looking for staff as soon as possible and were happy to accept from school leavers looking for a start in hospitality and thinking of an apprenticeship in bar management or in the kitchen.

He added that they were hoping to open the following Monday (July 31), with a full service ready by the Friday (August 4).

However, the pub, situated off the Leadon Way/Ross Road roundabout, remains closed.

A spokesperson for Stonegate said, “A new tenant has taken over the Full Pitcher and is recruiting a general manager to lead the day to day operations at the pub.

"Some internal improvements have taken place and we look to reopen as soon as possible.”
