RESCUERS were called to Hereford in the early hours of this morning (September 1) to save a teenage boy who had fallen into the river Wye.

Crews from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) were called out to the Old Bridge at Bridge Street in Hereford just before 2.20am to reports that a person had fallen down the embankment and into the water.
The boy was able to clamber onto a boat 100 metres from the bridge, where the team rescued him using a water sled.
He was then left in the care of the ambulance service, with police also at the scene.
A spokesperson for HWFRS said: “Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service was called out to a rescue from water in Hereford at 2.19am today (Friday).
“Two crews from Hereford Fire Station, including a water rescue team, attended the Wye Bridge at Bridge Street.
“A male teenager had fallen down the embankment into the river but had managed to clamber onto a boat 100 metres from the bridge.
“The crews rescued the male using a water sled and left him in the care of the ambulance service.
“The police were also in attendance and the HWFRS crews left the incident at 3.09am.”
