A FORMER nursing home with more than an acre and a half of land in a prominent Hereford spot is up for sale.
The Shires Nursing Home, on Hereford's Aylestone Hill, closed its doors for good earlier this year.
The 12-bed home had been part of mental health charity Herefordshire Mind since 1994.
Speaking earlier this year, the charity said it was a significant day when it handed back keys to the building, which has been a "sanctuary and a place of abode for many in distress".
It said people were tenderly cared for by the most amazing team people who demonstrated human compassion at its best.
But now it is on the market with agents Fisher German, who said the 1.56 site with a large house in situ has potential for residential redevelopment or refurbishment, subject to planning.

The stone-built Victorian house is approached by a drive from Aylestone Hill on the outskirts of the city.
The former nursing home has a small modern extension to the rear, 12 bedrooms, a large communal space, commercial kitchen, and basement storage, the agents said.
It also has a personnel lift servicing the ground and first floors.
The wider site, the agents said, is to be sold with vacant possession and extends to 1.56 acres. It includes a large car park and gardens.
