AN OPINION piece in the Hereford Times on August 17 reminded me of how much I value the work Ben Lea does at Close House.

He knows what it takes to turn lives around, leading by example and believing in the worth of each individual he works with.

That too is the spirit of Vennture and the work being done to keep the city safe.

ALSO READ:

Let’s value those people who serve those in need and ask ourselves if we should take charity more seriously.

The joyful activity and connection that Ben stands for is a better way of living.

Regulation, form-filling and automated responses are diminishing the importance of the individual. To bring out the best in each other, counterproductive conditions and behaviour should be recognised early and addressed.

We each experience the world through interaction with others. My life is enriched by understanding others better.

HVOSS is testimony to the number of those working in charities, and with public servants, to create a caring community in Herefordshire.

The State cannot dictate human relationships and needs to support the personnel and agencies who recognise those needs. We can all do our bit to get change now.
