A plan has been put forward to turn a prominent Herefordshire building into five flats.
John Daniels of Colwall has applied to convert former offices at 13 The Southend, Ledbury within the town’s conservation area, under so-called permitted development rights.
These allow conversion of commercial and some other building types to residential use under certain conditions without the need for full planning permission.

Plans submitted with his application show two flats with two bedrooms and three with one bedroom.
All five will meet the national space standard of 37 square metres, and all bedrooms and public rooms will have at least one window providing natural light, the application says.
The building, which previously housed a firm of solicitors, “is in a sustainable location, with amenities within easy walking distance”, it adds.

Cycle storage would be provided, but otherwise these is “no current vehicular access to the site, and none is proposed”.
The flats would fit in with the neighbouring, mostly residential buildings, and would not be affected by any nearby industry, it says.
With a half-timbered frontage, the building is not listed, but several of its neighbours are.
Comments on the application, numbered 232824, can be made until October 16.
