A DRUNKEN woman who was caught with drugs has been up before the magistrates after a pet shop incident.

Charlotte Adams entered guilty pleas to one count of possessing a class B controlled drug, one count of being drunk and disorderly in a public place, and one count of failing to surrender to police or court bail at the appointed time when she appeared before magistrates in Cheltenham in September.

The court heard from prosecutor Catherine Thornton that Adams had been caught in possession of 1.3 grams of cannabis in Gloucester on August 30.

She had also been drunk and disorderly in Westgate Street's Jollyes Pet Store on the same date, the court heard.

The 36-year-old had further failed without reasonable excuse to surrender to custody at Cheltenham magistrates' court on September 14, having been released on bail in criminal proceedings on August 31 by Gloucestershire Constabulary.

Adams, of of Dean Swift Close, Goodrich, was fined £80 for the drug possession, while the cannabis was ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.

She was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £40 and a £32 victim surcharge.

Courthouse detention until the court rose was ordered for the failure to surrender charge, with magistrates saying her detention was deemed served by time already spent in custody.
