NANDO'S went viral on TikTok earlier this year when it created its very own loaded chips to add to the menu. I decided to taste test them - and some other Nando's food - at the Hereford restaurant. This is what I thought.
I have been meaning to try the British-Portuguese restaurant's new loaded chips ever since they were introduced over the summer.
The chips were a hit with Nando's fans even before they were officially added to the menu. Customers were posting TikToks of them ordering Peri chips and all of the toppings separately, piling them all up to create a big bowl of "DIY" Nando's loaded chips.
Nando's noticed the traction this meal was getting on social media platforms like TikTok, so started offering them on the menu - and now they're available in hundreds of restaurants around the country, including the one at Hereford's Old Market.
I ordered the fully loaded chips alongside some chicken, a spiced butternut squash side, and corn on the cob.
I had tried Nando's chicken and pretty much all of the sides before and thought they'd be hard to beat, but the chips were definitely the highlight of this meal.
I am a bit of a chips snob and I often find fast food restaurants' fries too limp and greasy - but I've always liked Nando's chips. They're the perfect thickness, crunchiness, and taste yummy with the Peri salt.
Combine this with the new toppings of pulled chicken, melted cheese, onions and sauce, and this is an amazing side dish to share between two or three - but I wouldn't blame you if you kept it all to yourself!

For dessert I tried one of the new natas, Portuguese custard tarts.
Nando's has been serving its take on these for years, but recently changed the recipe, and I think the new version is better than ever.
A server even told me that they had "an emotional attachment to them" - and after trying one for myself, I can believe it.
Then there's the other stuff that makes Nando's the great restaurant we all know and love - the service with a smile, ease of ordering via the app or the till, bottomless soft drinks and the flexibility of choosing your own spice on the Peri-ometer.
The restaurant in Hereford is run by general manager Carlton Barratt.
