ALMOST 20 acres of ancient and semi-natural woodland is up for sale in Herefordshire.

The land, available as a whole or as three separate lots is being sold by informal tender, unless sold previously, with tenders to close at noon on November 17.

Agents McCartneys said the 19.24 acres of woodland at Winforton, between Hay-on-Wye and Kington, is designated as Ancient and Semi-Natural Woodland, indicating that it has been continuous woodland since pre-1600.

The agents said the site offers numerous cleared areas ideal for camping, should relevant consents be obtained, with vehicular access possible to all three lots.

Lot one, comprising 12.3 acres, comes with a woodland workers' cabin with kitchen, shower, and toilet facilities, connected to mains water and with electrics suitable to be connected to a generator, which the agents said could be developed with relevant planning consents. 

It also includes a second oak-framed building in need of renovation, and tracks throughout.

The second lot of 6.14 acres also has mains water supply, with access from the council-maintained road, and a track running through. It is largely maintained with good boundary fences to all neighbouring properties, the agents said.

Lot three is the smallest, at 0.8 acres, but includes a disused railway bridge and an old "platers hut", which McCartneys said is in poor condition but does show character.
