The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that the 40-year-old had been caught out in Wellvale Lane in Whitchurch, Herefordshire, after getting behind the wheel of a black Ford Camper while over the drink-driving limit on September 9.
An evidential breath test revealed that he had 88 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, more than twice the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.
Hastings, of Symonds Yat, Ross-on-Wye, was fined £120 and disqualified from driving for 22 months. He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £48 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
