Details have emerged of a planned seven-home development by a Herefordshire village school.
Outline permission for the scheme for School Field, beside Kings Caple primary school north of Ross-on-Wye, was granted nearly three years ago, the site having already been earmarked for housing in the village’s development plan.
Now the applicants, A, C and P Brandram-Jones, have put forward details of the proposed two-storey houses, which will comprise four semi-detached houses to the west of the new drive, each with two bedrooms, and three detached homes each with three bedrooms to the east.

This “is entirely in accordance” with the local housing market assessment which identifies “demand demand for three-bed market dwellings, followed by two-bed”, the application says.
These will be “of a traditional rural design”, having a simple gabled profile with timber cladding above render, beneath a slate roof, and will be “very highly insulated”.

Planting around 130 metres of mixed native hedging interspersed with hedgerow trees around the development “will improve the site’s biodiversity and connectivity”, the application adds.
The current field gateway would be expanded to provide road access, with an existing public right of way across the site retained.
