WITH Christmas Day fast approaching, I opted for a festive lunch and decided to try Greggs' Christmas menu at the Hereford Times office's nearest branch in Rotherwas, Hereford.

This new branch opened earlier this year, and we reviewed our first impressions on the day it opened its doors with our team buying lunch there to see what it was like.

I had mixed opinions on my lunch there on its opening day, as I wasn't too keen on the pizza. However, I decided to return to try the Christmas menu, which includes a range of food and drink items including the classic festive bake.

I went for the festive bake and a salted caramel latte, which I paid around £4 for altogether. Here's what I thought.

Festive bake

I tried the classic festive bake, made with chicken, bacon, sage and onion stuffing and sauce, and really does taste like Christmas in a pasty.

The meat in the bake was really soft and was complimented by the sweet cranberry flavour.

It'll be sad to see this disappear off the menu for another year until next Christmas - it's a great meal option.

Salted caramel latte

Although I was excited to try a festive drink, saying goodbye to the pumpkin spice latte of the autumn season was something I was less excited to do. I am a pumpkin spice lover through and through, but salted caramel seemed a good enough alternative for the Christmas period.

I didn't order whipped cream or extra salted caramel sauce on mine, but the coffee itself was lovely.

The salted caramel latte is really sweet, and satisfying for someone with a sweet tooth like me. However, it would be better if the coffee was a bit stronger.

Overall, I am really impressed with the festive Greggs menu - they seem to nail it every time. I would recommend it to anyone looking to treat themselves at lunchtime this season.
