HUNDREDS of people turned out for a Herefordshire town's Christmas lights switch-on yesterday (November 18).

Bromyard is renowned for having some fantastic decorations, and they again did not disappoint. 

The switch-on was the culmination of an afternoon of entertainment.

It kicked off with a Santa's Parade on Wheels at the Conquest Theatre car park, with children having the chance to meet Father Christmas at Falcon Mews.

A street market promising a variety of stalls were also available in Pump Street, with local business Aflie's Kitchen - which was highly commended in the Hereford Times Best Takeaways 2023 competition - serving up favourites alongside other businesses offering everything from Chinese dumplings to Greek goodies.

Also in Pump Street, there was musical entertainment from  Andy Libby, The Decibelles, Conquest Theatre Singers, and more.

The Market Square featured a number of performances. This included Bredenbury School Choir, Conquest Theatre Singers, Bromyard Wind Band, the Choral Society and Wind Band, and Britain's Got Talent star Russell Jones Jr, who made his name in the show in 2012.

The lantern and civic parade then entertained crowds through the streets before the lights were switched on. Afterwards, there was entertainment provided by five-piece Hereford band, Delta Soul.

Christmas craft fayres and other events also took place at the Public Hall, Methodist Hall, and Bromyard Local History Centre.
