A BOAT that had been sunken for 20 years has finally emerged from the river Wye, thanks to a teenage girl with plans to save it.
Paige Hyde, 13, and her mother Laura Washbourne became the owners of the Wye Princess, a disused river cruise boat, earlier this year.
The boat had been left in the river for over 20 years after the business operating the tours closed, but now, Paige and a community of volunteers have removed it from the water to be restored.
Paige said: “I am extremely proud. A huge thank you to our crew who have helped and the public who were able to follow along and show their support. We have a community Facebook group with frequent updates on the Wye Princess. There are brighter days for the Wye Princess ahead!”

Many Herefordians remember the Wye Princess from its glory days on the river in the late 20th century, and 24 people have donated funds to help Paige restore it.
The crew pumped the boat out to remove water that had flooded in and then lifted it from the river for restoration.
Paige’s dream is to restore the Wye Princess and run her own tours on the river.
