A WOMAN from Herefordshire who set up an organisation to support her community is looking for help.

Milly Boylan, who is a town councillor, founded Warm Welcome in Ross-on-Wye to support vulnerable people in the town, having previously experienced street homelessness herself.

Warm Welcome is not a registered charity but is classed as an unincorporated association. Its funds come from Councillor Boylan's own pocket and the generosity of local residents.

Now, the association's team are looking for help renovating its new building.

Councillor Boylan works with a small team of other volunteers including Michelle Hughes at the association's new premises in Corpus Christi Lane, in the centre of Ross-on-Wye.

Although the team are delighted with the new building, they say that a lot needs to be done to make sure it's fit for purpose and fully accessible for everyone.

They are calling for people to join a "DIY SOS-style project" to revamp the building for community use.

Warm Welcome posted on Facebook: "We need a carpenter to create wheelchair access and we need plumbers. We cannot move into this new venue until this work is done, so please come forward if you can help us."

One trader that's already volunteering time to help the project is Shai Hardwick of SDCH Limited.

Councillor Boylan helps people with all sorts of things, like applying for benefits, looking for accommodation, accessing healthcare, and more. She explained that the association has no political or religious leaning and is open to all who need support.

She used to work for the Herefordshire Voluntary Organisations Support Service (HVOSS), but said that she left her job when government funding was cut and some people in Ross-on-Wye were left without ongoing support. She then decided to step up to continue her work independently and voluntarily.

If you may be able to help with the building's renovation, you can contact Councillor Boylan on 07827 668971 or email warmwelcomerossonwye@gmail.com.
