The court heard from the prosecutor that the 45-year-old had entered Ross-on-Wye's Superdrug shop on November 14 last year, with intent to steal.
Danaher, of Robin Hood Lane, Birmingham, was handed a 19-month community order and fined £100 for the offence, with magistrates saying that they had taken his guilty plea into account when imposing the penalty.
He was also ordered to pay compensation of £211.24 to Superdrug, prosecution costs of £185, and a £114 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
