TRAFFIC lights and lane closures will hit Hereford drivers in the run-up to Christmas as electricity upgrades take place in the city.
National Grid Electricity Distribution said it is continuing work to improve its network in the town and the reliability of supplies for customers.
The laying of high voltage cables will affect the A49 at Starting Gate roundabout from now until Tuesday, December 19, when four-way traffic lights will be operating from 8pm to 6am. On Wednesdays during those dates the lights will operate from 10pm to 6am.

Then there will be four-way traffic lights from Monday, January 8, until Thursday, January 25, affecting the crossroads at Canon Pyon Road and Roman Road.
A spokesman for National Grid Electricity Distribution said: “We are working during the night where possible to minimise disruption and apologise for any inconvenience people experience.”
