FURTHER to your request for comments on the proposed transport hub in last week’s edition, I now understand that Network Rail intends to install a lockable gate between the station and the bus waiting room to allow their rail replacement vehicles to park outside the station.

This seems to go against the whole idea of the pedestrian plaza outside the station and also means buses reversing from the DIRO stands would have to ensure there are no rail buses coming behind.

ALSO READ:

In the case of planned maintenance such as the recent Dinmore Tunnels work, you could have three to four rail buses waiting to transport passengers and people wanting the bus hub would have to dodge the coaches to get to their waiting room. Why did Network Rail not mention this in their representation to plan 233009F dated 19 October 2023?

Allegedly, Jonathon Lester, leader of the Conservative group on Herefordshire Council, has said that even if the plan is approved, the council does not have the money to proceed with its construction.

So what is the point of a planning inquiry if nothing is going to be done for say five years? In that time circumstances may well have changed and we will have to get yet another set of consultants and go through the whole thing all over again.
