A HEREFORD businessman who set up a city centre jewellers has died.
Robert Broadfoot opened Hereford Gold in Commercial Road in late 1977, using the proceeds from running market stalls and the balance of his redundancy money from a previous employment.
Over the past 46 years, he has bought, sold and repaired jewellery at the premises, making many long-standing relationships with customers.

Announcing his death on its Facebook page, Hereford Gold said that Mr Broadfoot was larger than life and a much loved character who created a local business from nothing.
Initially called Discount Jewellery, Mr Broadfoot also had his mother Violet and sister Margaret working with him, with his father Robert, younger sister Violet and cousin Mary joining the business at a later date.
His wife Philippa then started helping out 32 years ag, discovering a love for the business.
