A TOTAL of 15 people were injured in four separate crashes in Herefordshire over the weekend. 

The most serious happened in Hampton Park Road in Hereford and on the A44 near Bringsty Common.

The former, which happened at around 5.40pm on Saturday (December 9) involved a head-on crash involving two cars, with six people requiring assessment.

A woman and two men from the first car were treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Hereford County Hospital for further treatment.

A third man from the same car was treated for minor injuries but did not require further treatment and was discharged at the scene. A female passenger of the second car was treated for injuries not believed to be serious and taken to the same hospital, while the driver, a woman, was treated for minor injuries before being discharged.

The A44 crash, meanwhile, involved a minibus and two cars that happened at around 11.20am yesterday (December 10). 

A total of five people were taken to hospital; however, none had life-threatening injuries.

Later the same day, at around 6.25pm, emergency services were called to two-car crash on the A4103 Hereford to Worcester Road, near Withington. 

The driver of the first car, a woman, was treated for minor injuries by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment so was given self-care advice and discharged at the scene.

A man and a child from the same car were assessed but were not injured. A man from the second car was found away from the scene and treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Hereford County Hospital for further treatment.

Then, shortly before 8pm, emergency services were sent to a crash at Overross in Ross-on-Wye involving two cars. 

The female driver and a male passenger from one car were treated by ambulance staff for minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment and so were given self-care advice and discharged at the scene. 

Other crashes included one at Avenbury, near Bromyard that happened at around 3.50pm on Saturday (December 9). Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham were all sent after a 4x4 car came off the road and rolled into its side. 

A woman in her 40s was assessed by ambulance staff but was not injured and did not wish to go to hospital. She was therefore given self-care advice and discharged at the scene.

Meanwhile, a van hit a fallen tree in Bromsberrow, near Ledbury, shortly before 1.45am yesterday (December 10) morning.  However, the driver was uninjured.

The spate of crashes, especially in light of recent bad weather, has led to West Mercia Police to urge people to be extra vigilant when out on the roads. 

Drivers should drive to the conditions, allow extra time for their journeys and take extra care.

You should also not attempt to drive through flood water. As well as putting yourself and others in danger, it could also damage your vehicle.
