ALMOST 200 vehicle thefts were reported in Herefordshire between January 2022 and August 2023, data obtained by the Hereford Times has revealed, and there are several "hotspots" in the county for these crimes.

The data reveals that there were at least 95 vehicles stolen in Hereford during this time, making the city the most targeted area by thieves.

Other car crime hotspots within Herefordshire are Leominster, with 32 vehicles stolen, and Bromyard, with 15 stolen.

The data also revealed which makes of car have been targeted the most in the county.

Volkswagens and Fords topped the list of the most stolen makes in Herefordshire, followed by Land Rovers, BMWs, Vauxhalls and Mitsubishis. 

Providing the data to the Hereford Times under the Freedom of Information Act, West Mercia Police said: "In line with national police data, the report is based on crime input date.

"This means that an offence that has occurred previously but reported recently will be counted."
