FLOOD warnings have been issued for the river Wye in north and south Hereford this evening.

The river was previously subject to a flood alert, but this has been upgraded.

Flooding of homes is now expected, the Environment Agency said.

Warnings are also in force for the river from Hay-on-Wye to Hereford and Hereford to Ross-on-Wye, meaning that there are four warnings in force for the county now.

The EA is warning that river levels are forecast to rise at the Hay-On-Wye river gauge, with flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected overnight tonight (December 27).

Flooding is expected to affect properties and roads in and around Hay and Hereford areas including the A438 between Letton and Willersley and Whitney on Wye.

In Hereford, river levels are forecast to rise at the Old Wye Bridge river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.

Ross on Wye: 3.9m to 4.4m tomorrow afternoon
