A SEX offender burglar has been jailed after breaking register rules and stealing from a shop.
Jonathan Lewis was convicted of three counts of theft from a shop, one count of burglary with intent to steal, and one count of failing to comply with notification requirements of the sex offender register when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in December.
The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that the 29-year-old had stolen goods worth £30 from Morrisons in Leominster in two thefts on May 2, and had entered the supermarket as a trespasser with intent to steal on May 3.

He had also stolen four cans of oil worth a total of £80 from Morrisons in Leominster on May 16 and goods worth £150 from the same supermarket on June 14.
He had further failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the sex offender register by failing to notify authorities of a change of address within three days on November 21.
Magistrates said the offences were so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified as Lewis was subject to an eight-week suspended sentence when the offences were committed.
Lewis, of Blanchard Close, Leominster, was jailed for a total of 16 weeks.
