A HEREFORDSHIRE school has been rated ‘outstanding’ in a recent Ofsted report.
Fairfield High School in Peterchurch was awarded the rating after its first inspection since 2013.
In the report, the school is described aa welcoming and caring. Teachers were said to challenge pupils to do and be their best at all times. Pupils reportedly recognise and value the support they receive from staff and, as a result, they work hard and achieve highly.
Pupils’ behaviour is apparently exemplary. They attend school regularly and work hard. Pupils enjoy attending the extensive range of clubs on offer. There is said to be something for every pupil, including academic support, sports clubs, creative clubs, a diversity and equality club and opportunities to meet quietly with others.

The school has reportedly worked hard to create a culture of success and aspiration and to make sure that every pupil is recognised for what they do well. Pupils celebrate the successes of their peers and seek help for their friends if needed. This all contributes to a community where everyone is valued and achievement is prized.
The report stated that school leaders and trustees are relentless in making sure that pupils at Fairfield get the very best education. The new headteacher and chair of trustees have recognised the many strengths of the school and some areas they would like to be even better. They have a sensible timescale for the improvements they have identified. Trustees take their roles very seriously. They understand the importance of the decisions that they make for pupils at the school.
Headteacher Paul Jennings said: “We are immensely proud that at a full inspection by Ofsted, Fairfield High School has been recognised as an Outstanding school in all areas – for the fourth consecutive time, meaning that it has maintained its Outstanding status over a period of 18 years.
“That single word ‘judgement’ cannot reflect the exceptional work that goes on throughout our school, and I would encourage you to read the report in its entirety to really comprehend exactly what the school delivers.
“The report reflects what we already knew, that Fairfield is a welcoming and caring school, where behaviour is exemplary. The inspection praises the breadth of a curriculum tailored to precisely meet the needs of our students, allowing them to learn to their full potential.
"All students make excellent progress, and early identification of support required by our learners and the interventions which allow everyone to keep up, rather than just catch up, ensures everyone achieves well. Pastoral care is also identified as exceptional, with all staff knowing students extremely well and stepping in early if they need help. Safeguarding is exemplary.
"At each inspection, the standards expected by Ofsted for an Outstanding judgment, have been set higher than the previous ones, and each time, Fairfield has surpassed them.
“Our staff work tirelessly to ensure that our students get the best possible education, and our students recognise and value this immensely. However, we have never ‘rested on our laurels’ and with the support of our parents, carers and the wider community, we will continue to develop to ensure that we deliver an outstanding education to all in the Fairfield family for decades to come.”
