Full Pitcher pub in Ledbury has been taken over by couple

Gareth and Donna Hughes are now in charge of the Full Pitcher in Ledbury after moving to the county from Taunton in Somerset. 

They are continuing to serve carveries, while also providing many traditional classic foods such as lasagne, curry and chilli.

"Our plans are to have a TV and darts board in the backroom so people who don't want to eat can come in and feel comfortable," said Mr Hughes.

"It will have the news on during the day and the Six Nations rugby that is on terrestrial.

"We have a section of the pub that is dog-friendly and we are family-orientated. There is plenty of parking in the massive car park." 

The pub, which is in a prominent position off the Ross Road roundabout, has had a lot of changes recently.

Last July, Shaun Bartley said him and his partner, Sophie Knight were taking it on. 

However, the following month, its pub company, Stonegate, confirmed it was still closed, adding that a new tenant had taken it over and it recruiting a general manager to lead the day-to-day operations.

The pub reopened on August 25, under the management of Andy Hoyle and Jacqui Burns, who before the Covid pandemic were in charge of the Royal Oak in Much Marcle.

They later ran the Robin Hood in Monmouth before moving to Ledbury.

At the time, Mr Hoyle said he was the chef and was aiming to do carveries a couple of times a week. 

"The pub has so much potential," added Mr Hughes. 

"It is a lovely county and very picturesque."
