A Herefordshire town is to get a new cash machine if a planning bid is granted.
London-based Cardtronics UK, which trades as Cashzone, has applied for planning permission (number 240058) to install the machine at the new Morrisons Daily, formerly Ashby’s/Nisa, in Kington High Street.
Lying within the town’s conservation area, the shop is in a grade II listed building, requiring listed building consent (number 240071) to be sought, along with a further application for advertisement consent (240059) to install a green and grey non-illuminated sign around it.

It would be in a window immediately to the right of the main entrance, set at a height that would be accessible for all users including those in a wheelchair.
In “a well-lit open area in full view of pedestrians”, the spot has already been approved from a security point of view, the firm’s application says. It would operate 24 hours a day, apparently for free.

The work to the building could “be easily reversed and replaced to match with the existing frontage and return it to its previous state” if later required, it adds.
The shop was recently granted an all-night alcohol licence, despite local objections.
Comments on the current applications can be made until February 8.
