A HEREFORDSHIRE school has been rated ‘good’ in a recent Ofsted report.

Leintwardine Endowed C of E Primary School was awarded the rating after being inspected in December last year.

In the report, the school is described as serving the community well, with the school’s leaders and staff taking an active interest in local life in addition to providing a good education.

The curriculum was said to be well planned, with staff that are ambitious for their pupils. It was reported that teachers treat pupils kindly but also make sure that pupils apply themselves in class.

Ofsted also said that they work hard and behave well, and pupils support one another.

Meanwhile, the school’s leadership was praised for being imaginative and thoughtful, showing regard for tradition, while also keeping up with new ideas. Over time, the school’s expectations have apparently risen and this shows in pupils’ achievement and participation in school life.

Headteacher Nicola Gorry said: “We are delighted that the ethos and values of our small rural school are evident throughout the report. 

“Our visit came just before Christmas when quite rightly there was a lot of activity and excitement across school and nursery.  The inspection team commented on the high aspirations that staff have for pupils and the hard work and excellent behaviour of pupils.
