A NATIONAL publication has praised Herefordshire as ‘England’s best-kept secret’.
An article has been published in a recent issue of Discover Britain lauding the ‘lesser-known’ county for its distinctive landscape and rural culture.
In the article Clare Gogerty details how she moved from London to Herefordshire four years ago and quickly found herself enchanted by the historic architecture, rich heritage and slow pace of life.
Despite claiming that Herefordshire is largely undiscovered by the wider world, Ms Gogerty admits that a number of celebrities are in on the so-called ‘secret’, with Elizabeth Hurley, Monty Don, and Richard Hammond all living in the county, and actress Maxine Peake believed to have recently moved to the area.

Several local businesses are also celebrated in the article including the Avenbury-based Little Pomona Orchard and Cidery.
Susanna Forbes, who co-founded Little Pomona with her husband James, said: “This does make me smile, Herefordshire is one of those secrets well worth finding out.
“It’s great to be able to showcase the strengths, the culture of Herefordshire is one of those elements that goes underappreciated.
“Maybe we’re all a little shy about singing its praises.”
