A HEREFORDSHIRE primary school has been rated as "good" by Ofsted following a recent inspection.

Ofsted's report on Marden Primary Academy, which is based in the village of Marden near Hereford, said: "Marden Primary really is a place where individuals matter. Pupils say they are happy and feel safe. They know that staff care about them.

"Even before they make a start in the reception year, they are well prepared for their education.

"Pupils understand the activities in lessons. Most pupils try their best and co-operate well with each other.

"The school works hard to provide all pupils with a well-planned curriculum across almost all areas. Teachers have sound subject knowledge across the curriculum."

To improve, the school needs to ensure it continues to develop staff knowledge and subject areas, as Ofsted's only critiques were that work was not always well-matched to children's needs and that the quality of work varied.
