FOUR flood alerts are in place for Herefordshire as heavy rain hits the county.
The Environment Agency (EA) first issued alerts for the Lugg (south of Leominster) and the Wye before arrowing the Arrow and the Frome.
There could therefore be flooding on some roads and farmland overnight, with river levels remaining high.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is expected to be much drier before more rain returns on Thursday (February 8). Initially, there was a yellow warning for snow in place for Herefordshire, but that has since been removed.
River Arrow
River levels are forecast to rise at the Titley Mill river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected overnight tonight. The EA expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Arrow from Michaelchurch to Brierley. Other areas that may be affected include Kington, Staunton and Eardisland.
River Frome
River levels are forecast to rise at the Bishops Frome river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected overnight tonight. The EA expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Frome from Bromyard to Hereford. Other locations that may be affected include Bishops Frome and Yarkhill.
River Lugg south of Leominster
River levels are forecast to rise at the Lugwardine river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected overnight tonight. The EA expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the River Lugg south of Leominster from Stoke Prior to Mordiford. Other locations that may be affected include Bodenham, Lugwardine and Hampton Bishop.
River Wye
River levels are forecast to rise at the Old Wye Bridge river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected to occur overnight tonight. The EA expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the river Wye from Hay-on-Wye to Ross-on-Wye. Other locations that may be affected include Byford, Bredwardine and Hereford. Predicted peaks:- Hay on Wye 1.9 to 2.2m, Bredwardine 3.7 to 4.0m, Belmont 3.7 to 4.0m and Old Wye Bridge 3.2 to 3.5m all on Wednesday morning, Mordiford 3.5 to 3.8m Wednesday afternoon, Ross on Wye 3.4 to 3.7m overnight Wednesday. The EAexpect river levels to remain high until Thursday.
