AN open letter to James Price, CEO, Transport for Wales.

In the Hereford Times in November 2022, you were quoted as promising that new “inter-city trains will provide a significant increase in capacity on the Marches rail line and a “premium service” between south Wales and Manchester every two hours.

You added that from May 2023, a fifth coach would be added on the inter-city trains. On November 2nd 2023, there were 52 departures from Hereford station. Of these, 41 were only two coaches. The service on this line remains overcrowded, cramped, uncomfortable and unpunctual.

What are your thoughts?

You can send a letter to the editor to have your say by clicking here.

Letters should not exceed 250 words and local issues take precedence.

Where are the improvements you promised? Where is the increased capacity? Where are the new trains?

I wrote to you personally about this last November but after three months of waiting for a reply, I can only conclude that you have chosen to ignore my letter. You seem also to be ignoring your undertaking to improve the abysmal service on this important transport link and ignoring the well-being and comfort of your fare-paying passengers.

Would you now care to show some accountability for this dreadful performance?
