PROMPTED by the sight of a planning application notice regarding its proposed demolition of the Three Counties Hotel site between Belmont Tesco and Hereford Asda, I draw attention to the fact that Lidl’s plans seem to stem from double yellow-lines problems with their inner city stores.

Far from unhappy about Lidl leaving Kentish Town Road, London NW5 after vacating their Camden Town site a few years ago, one Camden New Journal reader argues that “hopefully, the independents will get more business."
They go on to cite: “Cruelly produced and poor quality meat and dairy, heavily packaged food over-wrapped in nonrecyclable materials, automated tills overseen by a single member of staff ” as examples of the ‘benefits’ that Lidl bring wherever they are allowed to trade.
