THREE flood alerts remain in place for Herefordshire this evening (Sunday) after recent downpours.
They are for the river Lugg south of Leominster, the Wye in Herefordshire and the river Leadon catchment. Alerts mean flooding is possible and people should be prepared.
Hereford Times Camera Club member Matt Francis reported the Elan Valley dams, over the Welsh border, overflowing yesterday.
The Environment Agency alert for the Wye says: "We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Wye from Hay-on-Wye to Ross-on-Wye.
"Other locations that may be affected include the A438, Byford, Bredwardine and Hereford.
"Further rainfall is possible over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to remain high on Sunday (February 18).
The Lugg alert says: "River levels remain high but steady at the Lugwardine river gauge.
"Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected to continue. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river Lugg south of Leominster from Stoke Prior to Mordiford. Other locations that may be affected include Bodenham, Lugwardine and Hampton Bishop."
The Leadon alert says: "River levels have fallen but are due to rise again at the Wedderburn Bridge river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is possible.
"We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river Leadon. Locations that may be affected include Ledbury, Much Marcle, Staunton, Tibberton and Wedderburn Bridge may be impassable.
"Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours, we expect river levels to remain high. We are closely monitoring the situation."
According to the Met Office, tomorrow it was be a "mostly dry and fine day after some morning rain.
"Fairly cloudy at times, with any sunshine somewhat hazy. Mild with light winds and feeling pleasant in the sunshine. Maximum temperature 12C."
There are currently no reports of roads closed by flooding.
