A 30-YEAR-OLD man from Herefordshire is to appear in court today (February 19) charged with killing a baby.
Police said that Jack Wheeler from Ledbury, along with Melissa Wilband from Newent in Gloucestershire, have both been charged with manslaughter.
They will face Bristol Crown Court today, accused of killing a baby girl nearly four years ago. In today's hearing, they are expected to enter either guilty or not guilty pleas.
The four-month-old baby from Newent, named Lexi, was the daughter of 27-year-old Wilband, and had been admitted to hospital on April 12, 2020. She died six days later.

Along with the baby's mother Wilband, Wheeler, of Coachman's Court, Ledbury, is accused of unlawfully killing or allowing the death of Lexi contrary to common law.
Wheeler and Wilband have been on conditional bail since their last court appearance at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on January 12.
A spokesperson for the police said: "Gloucestershire police's major crime investigation team led on the investigation and the Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges."
