EMERGENCY services were called to the aid of a man who was in the river Wye in Hereford.
A fire service spokesperson said crews were called to a rescue from water at Hereford's Victoria Bridge just after 5pm today (February 19).
They joined West Mercia Police at the scene.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service sent a boat crew from Hereford and a search and rescue dog, but the man got out of the river before they arrived.
West Mercia Police were also in attendance at the scene as the emergency water rescue was launched, the fire service spokesperson said.

West Mercia Police have been approached for more details about the incident.
The fire service's search and rescue dogs are available at all times to search for people in emergencies, with the service saying that the dogs specialise in searching for "live, trapped or missing persons".
Meanwhile, the Hereford boat crew is one of the service's three swift water rescue teams, and the only one in the county of Herefordshire.
