THERE is insufficient parking for resident and visitor permit holders in zone eight (St Martin’s/Wye Street).
When I queried the number of permits issued to the number of bays provided, the council ducked the issue by saying that as there are no demarcated bays they are unable to say. They claim there are 45 active permits so it should be straightforward to pace out the space available.

My observations show there is room for 36 cars in the zone so it is insufficient, particularly as casual parkers take up space.
Parking needs to be restricted to permit holders only throughout the zone, and not allow any casual parking. There are two council car parks on hand which have plenty of space.

Letters should not exceed 250 words and local issues take precedence.
Secondly, the council should demarcate the four bays outside the car park at the leisure centre for permit holders only.
At present two are restricted for electric charging despite the charging points having been long removed. This is incoherent, and easy to change.
Thirdly, bays need to be demarcated to improve the present state of sloppy and inconsiderate parking.
Will the council take the necessary action in the interests of residents who have paid for a service?
