TWO people were taken to hospital after being involved in a crash on the A49 in Herefordshire.

Emergency services were called to Dinmore Hill, near Queenswood Country Park & Arboretum, at around 6.40pm on Friday (May 3).

This included two ambulances, a paramedic officer, the Mercia Accident Rescue Service BASICS doctor and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham.

An ambulance service spokesperson said: "On arrival, crews found two cars had been involved in a collision. Two men, the drivers, were treated by ambulance staff for injuries not believed to be serious and taken to Hereford County Hospital for further treatment.

Two fire engines were also sent to the scene as well as the police. 

A fire service spokesperson said: "No persons were trapped but two male casualties had self-extricated from their vehicles and were handed over to the care of the ambulance service.

"Clay matting was used to prevent oil from entering the watercourses. The road was closed in both directions."
