I WAS saddened to read about the recent rise in parking charges in Bromyard (Review ends free parking, May 2).
It amazes me the councils are blind to the effect this has on the shops in our high streets.

No wonder so many shops are empty. Councils pay lip service, bemoaning the lack of trade in town centres yet milking the motorist at every chance.
No wonder we prefer to stay at home and shop online or visit retail parks where parking is free. It’s madness. Bromyard is a sad place these days with a dying high street.
