AN estate agent has held his best friend’s Oscar whilst simultaneously winning a gold award of his own!
Andrew Cadwallader, from Orleton, is the director of Samuel Wood in Ludlow and has been best friends with James Price since they attended Wigmore High School in Herefordshire together.
They acted as best man for each other and have remained close for more than 35 years.
And last week, Mr Cadwallader got to hold his friends’ Academy Award at a special party his mum put on for friends and family at her home on the Shropshire and Herefordshire border to celebrate her son winning an Oscar, Bafta and Art Directors Guild Award for his set design work on the film Poor Things.
The film scooped a total of 11 Oscars including Best Production Design.
Last week, his best friend Mr Cadwallader, who is based in the Samuel Wood Ludlow office, scooped an award of his own when the agent was given a gold award status in the British Property Awards.
He said: “It’s an absolutely amazing achievement that my best mate is not only an Oscar winner, but a multi-award winner.

“It’s been incredible to celebrate with him and hear his stories, like being in a lift with Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger and them holding his Oscar and having their picture taken together because neither of them have won an Oscar. I’m really proud of him.
“It might not be on the same level, but I am really proud of all my team to say we have won a British Property Gold Award for our work in Ludlow, and James has congratulated me too!”
The national awards are one of the most inclusive and prestigious estate agency awards, with tough competition across the country. The awards team personally mystery shops every estate agent entered against a set of 25 criteria to obtain a balanced overview of their customer service levels.
“It might not be an Oscar – but it’s our Oscar here in Ludlow and I am rightly proud of the team and all we are doing to serve the area,” Mr Cadwallader said.
Robert McLean from The British Property Awards said: “If an agent has been attributed with one of our awards, it’s down to the fantastic customer service levels that they have demonstrated across a prolonged period of time."
