A HOMELESS man has been jailed for stealing makeup from a Herefordshire shop.
The stolen makeup products were valued at £155.89, and were taken from Leominster Pharmacy by Anthony Shingler last month.
The court heard from Valerie Hart of the Crown Prosecution Service that the 39-year-old, who was represented at the hearing by defence solicitor Brendan Reedy, had stolen the makeup on April 25.
On the same day, he stole eight lamb chops from the Co-Op in Leominster, which were worth £44 altogether.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from a shop when he appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court the following day.
Shingler, of no fixed abode, was handed a four-week prison sentence. He was ordered to pay compensation of £155.89 to Leominster Pharmacy and £44 to the Co-Op. No order was made for prosecution costs or a victim surcharge.
Magistrates said he had recently been released from custody for a previous sentence, and previously had failed to respond to non-custodial sentences. For these reasons, and because of the severity of the offences, they said only a custodial sentence could be justified.
