Plans have been put forward for nine smaller houses on the northern edge of Hereford.

Local firm ABT Land is seeking full planning permission (number 240857) to develop 0.6 acres of what is mostly garden to the north of Church Way in Holmer.

Pitched at young professionals and families, they would consist of three pairs of two-bedroom semi-detached houses plus a terrace of three, each of three bedrooms. Each would have slate roofs and would be finished in brick or render.

RELATED NEWS:

Permission has already been granted to knock down a bungalow on the land, Wytz End, and replace it with three more pairs of semis, while permissions have also previously been granted for two dormer bungalows to its west, where the current proposed homes would now go.

Four newly built two-bedroom houses next to the site sold off-plan, with a further ten potential buyers registering an interest, the application points out.

“There is demonstrable need for two-bed dwellings in the city,” it explains – yet many larger developments “are unable to provide for the smaller end of the market”.

OTHER NEWS:

The scale of the scheme would not oblige the developer to provide an affordable element.

Residents of the new proposed houses would have convenient and safe access to the city’s facilities by foot, cycle and public transport, the application adds.

Comments on the application can be made via the Herefordshire Council webpage until June 14.
