A Herefordshire woman says her nail salon business is in jeopardy following a complaint from a neighbour which she has not even been told the content of.
Jessica Moreton is using a retrospective planning application (number 240246) to confirm she can use a room in her Masefield Close home in Ledbury for her nail business, Nailed It with Jess.
In a statement supporting her bid, she explains she was visited last July by a Herefordshire Council enforcement officer, who has since left, over a complaint from a neighbour.

But she was not told what the complaint referred to – leaving her to “work tirelessly over the next few months to work out what would need to be done” to address it.
While the neighbour had never spoken to her directly, Miss Moreton says she gathered the complaint was in some way related to customers using a rear path to access to the salon.
“If I had be spoken to by the neighbour or the complainant, I would have been more than willing to come to an agreement that would benefit both parties,” her statement says.

Nor had Herefordshire Council taken up her suggestion of mediation, which was “not offered”, she adds.
Although she owns the house, the path is owned by Platform Housing, which she says has granted her use of it for access. Nonetheless she is now asking customers to use the front entrance in an attempt to placate the complainant.
“I cannot afford to lose my business and I don't want to cause possible further disturbance,” her statement adds.
A Herefordshire Council spokesperson said: “We can confirm that we received a complaint about unauthorised use of a property, but in this case, the identity of the complainant was confidential.
“Mediation between the two was therefore not possible and disclosing extensive detail about the complaint may have jeopardised this confidentiality.”
Miss Moreton's application can be commented on via the council webpage until June 7.
