A TV star and Herefordshire native will be making an appearance at a county event this week.

Excitement is building as Peterstow WI prepares for its open meeting with special guest speaker, antiques expert Kate Bliss.

The special event will see Bridstow Village Hall decked out with cheerful bunting and colourful flowers for the event on Wednesday (June 5, 2024).

Bliss, from the village of Byford near Hereford and star of BBC Bargain Hunt, Flog It and Secret Dealers, will value some items after her inspiring talk where she will talk about how she started out in TV, giving some brilliant anecdotes. There will then be some valuation for all guests to hear, and some private ones.

It will be followed by a sumptuous, traditional afternoon tea and a raffle with some fantastic prizes.

All proceeds from the event will support the amazing work of St Michael’s Hospice in Hereford, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Peterstow WI president, Adele Welsby, says the group cannot wait to welcome guests at Bridstow Village Hall, just off the A49 approximately 300 yards from Wilton roundabout and opposite the school. The postcode is HR9 6PZ.

Ms Welsby said: “Bridstow Village Hall decked out in its Sunday best will make a very jolly sight with cheerful bunting, colourful flowers and tables laid for tea.

“The traditional afternoon tea with its delicious morsels will tantalise and tempt the tastebuds.

“I can't wait to see the looks on faces when people see the raffle prizes. Bundled up are more than 30 donations into 12 amazing prizes. I am grateful to the many companies who have been so generous and feel the thrill that we will raise generous funds for St Michael's Hospice.”
