A HEREFORDSHIRE village has been listed among England’s top unexpected holiday Havens.
The tiny village of Craswall might not be the first place that comes to mind for a holiday, but according to their study, it has earned its place among some of the country’s best.
Craswall’s charm and location at the foot of the Black Mountains is what puts the small village on the map, according to conductors of the study, Schofield Insurance.
And it is in good company, with spots such as St Agnes (Cornwall), Eskdale (home of Lake Windermere in Cumbria) and Harford (Devon) also on the list.
In total, 7,215 villages, towns and cities across England were reviewed for their crime rates, from which 213 locations were given a weighted tourism score based on factors such as attractions nearby and local dining options.

Schofield Insurance’s full entry and reasons for Craswall’s inclusion on their list of English hidden gems were as follows:
“Craswall is a charming village located in Herefordshire, England, at the foot of the Black Mountains,” Schofield Insurance said.
“Craswall's location makes it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding natural beauty. The village sits near the source of the river Monnow, offering opportunities for leisurely walks or even a spot of fishing. Visit a Michelin Star pub at The Bull’s Head in Craswall.”
“The Black Mountains provide endless opportunities for hiking, cycling, and simply being surrounded by breathtaking scenery.”
