A HEREFORD man has appeared in court for breaking a woman’s phone in an incident in the city.
Ryan Price, 39, pleaded guilty to one count of criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 when he appeared at Hereford Magistrates’ Court on May 20.
Price, represented in court by defence solicitor Matthew Lewis, has been handed a conditional discharge by magistrates, meaning he has not been sentenced for the offence at this time.
Although he was said to have damaged the victim’s mobile phone, the court heard that there was no loss as a result.

He was however convicted of criminal damage because he intended to destroy or damage the phone, or was reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged. He was said to have no lawful excuse.
The damage to the phone took place in Hereford on January 16, 2022, Crown Prosecution Service prosecutor Paul John told Hereford Magistrates’ Court.
Price, of Nelson Street, Hereford, was ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
