KING Charles coronation 50p coins are being advertised for sale for incredible sums by Herefordshire eBay sellers.
Some of These coveted coins, which entered circulation in December 2022 to mark the transition from the late Queen to the King, are being advertised for sale on eBay by Herefordshire sellers for up to £2,000.
Although these (albeit limited edition) 50ps might be marketed for up to 4,000 times more than their face value, the Royal Mint produced five million of the coronation coins, a figure making this history-marking 50p seem much less uncommon than their new prices might suggest.

But some Herefordshire eBay sellers have placed a more accessible price on their coronation 50ps, with one eBay seller marketing their uncrowned 50p for a much humbler price of £5.
It appears the most desirable, “extremely rare” 50ps are those that picture the King without a crown on the obverse and a stunning depiction of Westminster Abbey and His Majesty’s Royal Cypher by Natasha Jenkins on the reverse.
Prices for coins with a crowned King Charles can be exclusively bought in an uncirculated condition from the Royal Mint themselves for only £12 each, but it seems that many collectors value those without a crown as considerably more desirable.
Local eBay sellers are putting values on these coins in the wide region of £5 to £2,000.
The fact that the most valuable variant of the UK’s first-ever coronation 50p entered circulation, means your change could be worth a mint without you even knowing it.
