On Saturday June 15, North Books in Hay-on-Wye will welcome two local authors to sign and discuss their latest work to mark Independent Bookshop Week (June 15-22, 2024).

Taking place on Saturday at 4pm and 11am respectively, they will be just two of many events taking place at independent bookshops across the UK to mark Independent Bookshop Week.

Author Richard King will be in conversation with music journalist, Jude Rogers, about his lavishly printed biography of Arthur Russell, ‘Travels over feelings’, published last month. Richard will discuss the process and how the book came about from 4pm.

Self-proclaimed ‘outsider’ artist Omar Majeed’s novel, ‘Last Milk Float Out of Dullsville’ is loosely based on ‘choose your own adventure’ stories from both literature and online gaming. Omar will be signing copies of his work at 11am.

A third event on Friday June 21 will be Kington-based gallery owner and artist Kathryn Moore discussing her beautifully-printed scrapbook ‘A Brush with the Borders – An Artist’s Year’. Kathryn will be signing copies during the bookshop pop-up café which runs from 10am-noon.
