A HEREFORDSHIRE primary school has been handed a top rating after inspectors visited.

Eastnor Parochial Primary School received an "outstanding" rating in its recent Ofsted inspection.

Ofsted inspectors, who visited Eastnor Primary in May, gave a glowing report praising the school's efforts and ability to create an organised, cheerful community with a well-run curriculum.

The school is part of the Diocese of Hereford Multi-Academy Trust (DHMAT) and was rated outstanding in all areas leaving staff, teachers and parents incredibly proud.

The report applauded the school's ability to "identify any pupils with special educational needs and disabilities early" and said inspectors believed bullying was not a problem.

Among other positive points, Ofsted wrote that the high expectations encouraged students to perform to their best ability and flourish in the environment. Students were said to find the school "joyous" and "caring" and showed "exemplary behaviour".

Eastnor was praised for preparing students for life and learning in secondary school exceptionally well thanks to their well-designed curriculum and organised lessons. Ofsted said that "attention to every individual shines out" helping aid the development of learning and confidence.

Co-headteachers at the school, Nicola Driscoll and Sarah Tart, said how they were proud of their "wonderful achievement" and that every single member of staff "deserved recognition" as they "go above and beyond for the pupils each day". They were thrilled that parents, staff and pupils felt that Eastnor was like "a family" and were "delighted that the report has given a voice to each member".

Academy trust chief executive officer Canon Andrew Teale said he was delighted with the result from the inspection at Eastnor Primary School, which was the "reward for the hard work put in by everyone" and it acutely reflected how wonderful the school is. He is proud that they can offer "the highest standard of primary education to children and families" in Herefordshire.

He commented on the dedication of the two co-headteachers and how they worked "incredibly hard to keep the school moving forward positively".
