A HEREFORD GP practice has been nominated for another award... a year after taking the top spot in the competition.
Roberta Bigham took the time to nominate the practice of St. Owen’s Street’s Cantilupe Surgery for the award of ‘GP Practice of the Year’ in the Hereford Times’ Health and Social Care Awards, branding it a "caring and very supportive service".
Ms Bigham wished to particularly acknowledge the outstanding efforts and service of Cantilupe Surgery’s Dr Jill Goodfellow in particular. In Ms Bigham’s nomination itself, she said: “I have been exceptionally well cared for by Dr Goodfellow. She never appears to be rushed (although I'm sure she is very busy!), she talks through options for treatment and gives me the opportunity of having input and contributing to decisions and, on occasions, has booked my next appointment herself.”
This is not the first time that this surgery has been commended for its amazing, compassionate service, as in last year’s ceremony of the Hereford Times’ annual awards, Cantilupe Surgery walked away with the very same accolade they have been nominated for again this year: the team’s distinguishing hard work has clearly remained first-rate.
What are the Health and Social Care Awards?
The Health and Social Care Awards are an annual award ceremony, held by the Hereford Times, to recognise the hard work, dedication, innovation, and care delivered across our county’s health and social care sector. With focus on the individuals and their stories, it’s the people who make the difference.
In recent years, the people of Herefordshire have shown their support for the awards by nominating someone they know who deserves it, and we hope that communities will join together once more in celebrating the care workers that go above and beyond their duties.
The Health and Social Care Awards 2024 will take place on Thursday October 3, 7pm at the Hereford racecourse, but the closing date for nominations is August 4, 2024.
The winners of the 12 awards will be chosen by a panel of independent judges.
Nominations from the public, business, private organisations, and health & social care professionals are all accepted. Help us celebrate those who make such a difference to the lives of so many.
