A HEREFORDSHIRE pharmacy will be closed tomorrow (June 22).

A sign has appeared in the window of Jhoots in Leominster’s Corn Square announcing that the shop will not be opening this Saturday and suggesting that customers contact 111 in the event of an emergency. No explanation has been given for the unexpected closure.

The pharmacy is only operating at a reduced scale for the time being while the store undergoes the transition to new ownership. They are still open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday, and from 9am to 6pm on Saturdays for their prescription service.

Jhoots operates out of a former Boots outlet which closed earlier this year alongside around 300 other Boots shops which have shut down in the last 12 months.

Explaining the closure of Boots, a spokesperson said: "Evolving the store estate in this way allows Boots to concentrate its team members where they are needed and focus investment more acutely in individual stores with the ambition of consistently delivering an excellent and reliable service in a fresh and up to date environment."
